Mountain peaks rising above a turquoise coastline

About Mountain Meets Sea

A travel experience company
built by women who go first.

Mountain Meets Sea is a small, female-founded adventure travel company. We run live-aboard sailing, high-altitude treks and weekend escapes — all in small groups, all designed for people who want the real thing, not a checklist.

Our story

One is drawn to the peaks. The other to the horizon.

Mountain Meets Sea started as a friendship between an architect who fell in love with sailing and a civil engineer who couldn't stop climbing. Both of them walked away from familiar careers to build a travel company on their own terms — small groups, honest itineraries, real adventure.

Today we run fixed-departure and custom journeys across sea, land, high altitude expedition and weekend formats. Live-aboard sailing in Thailand, the Seychelles and Greece. Treks and cultural trips in Nepal, Bhutan, Meghalaya, Ladakh and the Philippines. Quick escapes in Sirsi and Kannur.

Every trip is led by a woman who has done it herself — and every itinerary leaves room for the unplanned, because that's usually where the best memories come from.

The founders

Meet the crew behind the voyage

Two women, two disciplines, one company. Amrutha runs the sailing side. Nishitha runs the mountains. Together they've built the small-group adventure company they themselves wanted to travel with.

Amrutha Jayachandran

Amrutha is an architect who traded blueprints for wind charts. With over 4,000 nautical miles under her belt, she skippers the sailing arm of Mountain Meets Sea — from the Andaman Sea and Seychelles to the Greek Isles.

She believes the most valuable lessons are learned at sea. On every voyage she teaches guests the fundamentals of sailing — reading the wind, trimming a sail, taking a night watch under the stars — while building a small, tight-knit community onboard.

Nishitha C Poduval

Nishitha is a civil engineer who became a mountaineer, traveller and entrepreneur. Five years of high-altitude hiking across the Himalayas — from Annapurna and Everest Base Camp to Ladakh and Bhutan — shape the way she designs Mountain Meets Sea's land journeys.

She believes mountains give a sense of grounding. Every trek she leads is planned for real acclimatisation, small group sizes, and space to actually meet the place — not tick it off a list.

How we travel

Not another travel agency

Small groups, always

5–8 people per trip. Enough to make friends, small enough to stay flexible when the plan needs to change.

Led by women who've been there

Every departure is run by a founder or trip leader who has actually sailed the route or climbed the trail.

Real, not rehearsed

We plan carefully — then leave room for spontaneous hikes, offbeat trails and the surprises that make a trip yours.

One adventure at a time.
